The Director of the Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA), Professor Jibrin Mohammed Jibrin has been unanimously elected as the President of the Food for West Africa (FOOD4WA) network. FOOD4WA is a network of the agriculture-based Africa Centres of Excellence (ACEs) that brings together seven ACEs from six African countries whose activities focus on agriculture, food security and nutrition.
The network is currently working on strengthening of skills and training of young Africans who can take up the challenge of food self-sufficiency, and food and nutritional security. Additionally, the universities hosting the Centres will collaborate with sister universities to exchange knowledge and promote the mobility of students and faculty in Africa.
The FOOD4WA had in August 2022 organized its first symposium hosted by the African Centre of Excellence in Agriculture for Food and Nutrition Security (CEA-AGRISAN), Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar (AGRISAN) in Dakar, Senegal.
Professor Jibrin has succeeded Professor Kokou Tona, the Centre Leader of the Africa Centre of Excellence in poultry Science (CERSA) of the University of Lomé, Togo.
